The Ministry of Agriculture has signed an agreement on the introduction of an automated system of water resources management

The Australian company "Rubicon Water Pty Ltd" is one of the world's leading companies in the implementation of digital technologies in water management. The company has installed more than 30 thousand automated water management sluices in 15 countries of the world, and these sluices cover a total of 1.5 million hectares of irrigated land.

A contract worth 18.2 billion soums was signed between the Ministry of Agriculture and the Australian company "Rubikon Water Pty Ltd" in the Yukorichirchik district of Tashkent region at the AKIS - Agroservices Center in the Kamashi-Mirishkor canal of Kashkadarya region.

As a result of the implementation of the project, a total of 6.5 thousand hectares of land will satisfy the need for 43 million liters of water.

Within the framework of this contract, a total of 28 automated water control sluices in the 13.8 km long section of the Kamashi (10.2 km) - Mirishkor (3.6 km) canal of Kashkadarya region, measuring equipment for farms using this canal, remote control software support from the center and mobile applications for farmers will be introduced.

Currently, 50-60 cubic km of water resources are used annually in Uzbekistan for the needs of various sectors of the economy. Approximately 90 percent of these resources are used for agricultural needs.

In the decision of the President "On measures to further improve the activities of the Ministry of Water and Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan" in the rational use of water resources and the introduction of the automated system of the sector, a number of tasks are set for the radical improvement of the water management system, including the wide introduction of digital technologies in the management of the water management system.

As a result of the implementation of the project, it is expected that water retention will increase to 70%, water supply from irrigation canals to crops will increase from 37% to 90%, and rational use of water will increase to 97%.

A separate SCADA telemetry and remote control system will be created on the basis of new generation radio devices for online monitoring and management of the elements of the water supply network.
